The Effect of Plant Diversity and Soil Properties on Soil Microbial Biomass and Activity in a Novel Ecosystem

چکیده
Plant–microbial relations have not yet been fully disclosed in natural or seminatural ecosystems, nor novel ecosystems developing spontaneously on post-coal mine heaps. The aim of this study was to determine which factor, biotic (plant taxonomic diversity vs. plant functional diversity) abiotic (physicochemical substrate parameters), affects the biomass soil microbial communities most, as well situ respiration ecosystems. carried out unreclaimed plots selected according four different combinations and diversity. Additionally, a reclaimed heap served comparison between two management types. several groups analysed using phospholipid fatty acids profiles. We detected that more impacted by parameters (explaining 23% variance) than 12% variance). Particularly, we observed pH most important factor shaping community biomass, shown RDA analysis. highest found with low This finding can be explained fact these represented advanced phase vegetation development early stages succession.

Effects of elevated atmospheric CO2 on soil microbial biomass, activity, and diversity in a chaparral ecosystem.
This study reports the effects of long-term elevated atmospheric CO2 on root production and microbial activity, biomass, and diversity in a chaparral ecosystem in southern California. The free air CO2 enrichment (FACE) ring was located in a stand dominated by the woody shrub Adenostoma fasciculatum. Between 1995 and 2003, the FACE ring maintained an average daytime atmospheric CO2 concentration...
متن کاملPlant diversity increases soil microbial activity and soil carbon storage.
Plant diversity strongly influences ecosystem functions and services, such as soil carbon storage. However, the mechanisms underlying the positive plant diversity effects on soil carbon storage are poorly understood. We explored this relationship using long-term data from a grassland biodiversity experiment (The Jena Experiment) and radiocarbon ((14)C) modelling. Here we show that higher plant ...
متن کاملEffect of Cry3Bb transgenic corn and tefluthrin on the soil microbial community: biomass, activity, and diversity.
Transgenic Bt corn expressing the Cry3Bb insecticidal protein active against corn rootworm (CRW) (Diabrotica spp.; Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) was released for commercial use in 2003 and is expected to be widely adopted. Yet, the direct and indirect risks to soil microorganisms of growing this CRW-resistant Bt corn versus applying insecticides to control the rootworm have not been assessed under...
متن کاملwuthering heights and the concept of marality/a sociological study of the novel
to discuss my point, i have collected quite a number of articles, anthologies, and books about "wuthering heights" applying various ideas and theories to this fantastic story. hence, i have come to believe that gadamer and jauss are rightful when they claim that "the individaul human mind is the center and origin of all meaning," 3 that reading literature is a reader-oriented activity, that it ...
15 صفحه اولA Review on Impact of E-waste on Soil Microbial Community and Ecosystem Function
The ever increasing pile-up of electronic waste in dumping sites, especially in developing countries such as China, Pakistan, India and several African countries, might have caused a significant alteration in the microbial community of the contaminated sites. This change in the microbial population may have significant impact to the soil ecology function. The major pollutants of electronic wast...
